Fat in software features is
unnecessary functionality.
Someone may have once thought that a software feature was required.Upon reflection, a community may discover that the feature or part of it isn't needed at all, or at least not now. Many a software feature is a nice to have, not a need to have.In fact, one of the most quoted studies in the history of software, a Standish Group Report from 2002, reveals that 45% of features in shipping software go totally unused (while a comforting 19% of features are only rarely used.)unnecessary functionality.
